Have you ever traveled to Pakistan, an Islamic country in Southeast Asia?
Pakistan is a treasure trove of fascinating culture, history, and nature, including historical ruins where you can feel the Indus Valley Civilization and Gandhara culture, and Hunza, a village famous for being a model for "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind". It is a known country.
Sightseeing is of course fun, but eating is one of the real pleasures of traveling. Therefore, this time, we will introduce carefully selected 8 typical Pakistani dishes.
Pakistan's dietary situation
The four major components of Pakistan's diet are bread, rice, vegetables, and meat.
The staple food is wheat, and since most of the people are Muslim, I never eat pork. The main dish is curry, which is basically eaten from breakfast. There are various ingredients such as mutton, beef, chicken, meat dumplings, minced meat, beans, and vegetables, which are eaten with naan.
I like curry, so I tried different kinds of things every day. Shops of a certain size have 5 to 6 types of curry, and small shops mainly have vegetables, beans, and chicken curry.
Also, the rice dish called Biryani was delicious and I often ate it. Especially the Karachi beef biryani contained beef and was gorgeous and delicious.
Pakistan's best food
The best food I recommend is Kofta curry with meat and fish dumplings. Kofta means dumplings, the local ones are very spicy but the sauce is light. It's refreshing even though it contains a lot of spices, and it tastes easy to eat, but it's spicy.
I am! Recommended for those who like spicy food.
Tikka Botti barbecue
Pakistani food that is easy for Japanese people to eat is the tikka Botti barbecue, which has a spicy spiciness and aroma of spices. An exotic dish of meat such as beef and mutton is marinated with garlic and grated ginger and seasoned with spices.
Kofta curry
It is a dish of minced meat and fish rolled into a dumpling, put in curry, and simmered. Pakistanis use a lot of spices, so eating them locally is very spicy! If you make it yourself, it is recommended to adjust the spice by reducing the number of spices.
Sindhi Biryani
Biryani is often eaten in Southeast Asia such as Pakistan and India. It's a time-consuming dish to make curry first and then add half-boiled rice to it, but the deliciousness of the finished product is truly exquisite!

When it comes to gourmet food in West Asia and the Middle East, kebabs are indispensable. Stick minced meat on a skewer and bake it in the oven or grill. It's simple but spicy and delicious.
Karachi beef biryani
Recommended for party cooking! Biryani made from beef that looks gorgeous. It is recommended to have such biryani with a dish called "Raita", which is a mixture of raw salted vegetables and yogurt.
Pakistan curry
Pakistani curry, which uses tomato puree instead of water, is a popular dish with a spicy and rich taste. Enjoy it deliciously with naan ♪
Curry Pakora
Curry using pakora, basin powder, and yogurt sauce. This curry is generally eaten over basmati (basmati rice) instead of naan or chapati. There are similar dishes in India, but it seems that there are differences in each region, such as only some regions can use Pacora.
Plao
A dish in which yogurt is sprinkled on rice with meat. Like Biryani, it is a dish that is seasoned with rice, but Plao has a small number of spices, so even people who are not good at spicy dishes can easily eat it.
