Spending hours of the necessary in front of the computer, talking on the phone, chatting excessively, listening to loud music on headphones, and sticking to the television all have consequences. A specialist from Sura describes 7 diseases. The director of quality of life programs at Seguros Sura, Juan DomÃnguez, explained, on his blog, some health problems that can arise from the famous excessive 'hyperconnectivity':
1. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome :
The main disease that people addicted to chatting and chatting online with other people can suffer. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a disease that occurs when the nerve that runs from the forearm to the hand is pressed or trapped within the carpal tunnel, at the wrist level, causing numbness, pain, tingling, and weakness in the affected hand.
2. Hearing damage:
If you listen to music on headphones at full volume, you risk hearing problems. The first and most important are hearing loss (deafness), balance problems (this sense is found in the ear) and in the short term, nausea and vomiting.
3. Mental problems:
Overused technology has significant health consequences. Many people suffer from depression, social isolation, anxiety, and a lack of pleasure and interest in everyday activities, among other mental diseases.
4. Overweight and obesity:
A recent study confirmed that people who spend so much time in front are more prone to a sedentary lifestyle, and therefore, to suffer from overweight and obesity, diseases that lead to other problems such as diseases in the circulatory system, diabetes, among others.
5. Irreparable damage to the nervous system:
Abusing technology can cause irreversible damage to the central nervous system, since the electromagnetic fields that they emit cause diseases related to this such as vertigo, fatigue, sleep disorders, memory loss, and development of brain tumors.
6. Eye diseases:
Staring at computer or television screens for hours can also cause eye problems. The most common are dryness, eye strain, etc. The recommendation is to take active breaks to relax the eyes from exposure to these elements.
7. Addiction:
In today's world, the fascination with technology is unavoidable. So much so it is already classified as a disease by specialists. And there are several: there is nomophobia (fear of not having a cell phone at hand), laptops (discomfort and muscle aches from using and overloading laptops), cyber addiction (internet addiction).
8. Creates a social disconnect
People are socializing with each other through digital media, rather than face-to-face opportunities. Although there is a certain satisfaction that results from these interactions, only digital relationships can also create intense feelings of isolation, loneliness, and disconnection. Taking away our ability to be physically social (even if it doesn't mean intimacy) can be problematic for an individual's mental health. The prevalence of mental illness and disorders may be increasing because we are using technology more than having contact with each other.

9. It can limit learning and create a dependency
If you can stay focused, a computer with the Internet can be one of the greatest tools in history to learn about anything. It is also easy to become overly dependent on a computer and other electronic devices. For example, a spell checker is a great tool for finding misspellings. However, if you never learn the correct spelling of a word and trust the spelling checker or automatic correction, you are likely to make spelling mistakes.
Other tools like grammar checkers, GPS, and calculators are also extremely useful. However, if you become too dependent on these tools, you can be helpless when they are not available.
